My Go-To Photography Gear for Travel and Everyday Photography

Even though I’ve always described myself as a creative chameleon, meaning that I love working in many creative disciplines, from writing to painting…photography is one of the things that makes me happiest and most full of life.

I’ve always felt there’s something truly magical in being able to capture and preserve moments in life. Both at home and abroad. Photography is also an amazing tool to slow down and take a moment to appreciate the little things we sometimes overlook in the flurry of our routines.

I love taking photos and sharing them on my social media, it feels really nice to share my vision and my little slice of life through images. I often get questions about what camera I use and what gear I take when traveling. And while photography is not something I’ve done professionally for many years, it’s something I’ve been in contact with for my entire life. First, through my dad, who’s always worked with photography, then through art school, and later through photojournalism class.

Photography has always been a constant in my life, and it’s something I’m looking forward to doing more and more in the future!

And without further ado, this is the gear I’ve been collecting and using for the past few years…

Camera Body & Lenses

My beloved Nikon ZFc. While my first camera was a Canon, some of my other cameras growing up were hand-me-downs from my dad who’s always worked with Nikon. Naturally, I stuck with the brand and when I wanted to go from a heavier DSLR to a mirrorless camera that was travel-friendlier, the Nikon ZFc felt like the perfect choice. It’s light, it’s powerful, and well, it’s gorgeous too! The only thing I don’t love about this camera is the lack of stability when in video mode.

My go-to lens when traveling for its versatility, because it gives me a wider angle for architecture shots, but also some zoom that is great for street photography without losing a lot of quality.

I don’t use this lens as much as it’s quite heavy, and carrying it around while traveling ends up being a full workout. But it’s ideal for wildlife photography and safaris, and even for street photography.

Other Camera Recommendations…

This camera has been on my wishlist for a while as an additional light, easy-to-carry, everyday camera. This is the one my sister uses, as well as many friends, and it’s a great option if you’re looking for a mid-entry-level camera. And the Fuji recipes you can use within the camera make editing so much easier!

I worked with an older version of this Sony series and it’s also a great option if you’re looking for a beginner-friendly camera that isn’t a point-and-shoot. Plus, if you want to vlog or capture video too, Sony cameras are amazing for video.

Photography Accesories

All my editing happens in the Adobe Lightroom app on my iPad Pro. The screen is incredible for photography and anything visual, plus working with the Apple Pen makes it easier on my hand vs. working with my laptop.

I found this tripod at a second-hand shop and it was love at first try. It’s light, it’s portable, but still very, very resistant.

My go-to SD Card. It allows me to shoot in RAW for many, many sessions without running out of space, and has a quite fast reading speed that allows me to review my work in no time.

A cleaning kit is a must, especially when hauling your camera on your travels. Dust, dirt, humidity…the elements will inevitably happen and it’s best to clean your camera after every outing to keep it in best conditions.

Ok, this is on my wishlist. I’ve been obsessed with this portable photo printer lately and I’m seriously considering it as a self-birthday present. How cool would it be to be able to have high-quality prints of my favorite photos right away?

Most of the time I connect my camera to my iPad directly via WiFi or Bluetooth to download photos and edit on the go, but when I want to download a big amount of photos, it’s easier to just work with a card reader that works with both my iPad and my iPhone.

Perfect for carrying your camera in your everyday life, and when you’re carrying a small lens!

My Travel Preset Collection

One of my favorite parts of photography is editing. Some photos I love as they are, but others I love bringing to life in Lightroom.

And during the past couple years, I’ve developed my go-to presets, inspired by the colors and landscapes of some of my favorite destinations, from the vibrant markets of Marrakech to the golden sunshine of the Spanish Mediterranean.

These presets give my photos my now-signature warm tones, subtle contrast, and nostalgic touch.

Edit easily with the Travel Preset Collection, available here.
